  • Seals: €4 each. We send them on request — write to us with how many you need. Payment and delivery (for example to a pickup point instead of a home address) are agreed individually with each order. Larger orders: price on request. The address is used only for shipping and is never published.
  • The app, the verification page and the registry: free. No subscription, nothing to keep paying for.
  • Checking a seal is always free, for anyone, with any NFC-enabled phone.
Pedidos grandes: precio a consultar.

What we storeQué guardamos

  • About an artist: the name they chose, the website or profile page that confirmed their key, and their public key. Never the twelve words, an ID document, an address or a phone number.
  • About each work: the record the artist published (title, year, size, medium, photo) — it is public by design.
  • About people who check a seal: nothing. No accounts, cookies, analytics or locations. The online chip check keeps only the chip's serial number, its last reading and two dates.
  • Buyers' names are never asked for and never shown.

What “Verified” means — and what it does notQué significa «Verificado» y qué no

It means: the person holding the artist's key (the artist, or a gallery or estate acting for them) declared that this chip belongs to this work and this record, and the chip answering now is the original. This is checked by mathematics, not by our opinion.

It does not mean: an appraisal, an expert attribution, a valuation or proof of ownership. ArtFirma does not examine artworks and does not vouch for them; we provide the tool and keep the registry available. A seal can be moved to another object — compara the record and photo with the work in front of you.

  • Seals keep working. The address on every seal is a permanent redirect on purl.org, not on our servers. PURL was created at OCLC in 1995 for exactly this purpose and has been run by the Internet Archive since 2016. Even if purl.org stopped one day, the seal's link itself carries everything needed: open it with any saved copy of the page, or check it by hand with the specification. The purl address points to artfirma.com, whose domain is paid until 2036.
  • The check needs no server. The verification page is one file with the artists' public keys inside; any saved copy checks a seal in the browser, even offline. Copies are kept on Arweave and at CERN's Zenodo (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.23188764).
  • Records are archived permanently. Every record and photo is copied to Arweave within a day of publishing; the page finds it there by the fingerprint on the seal. Arweave is paid once per file, at upload, from an endowment meant to keep it for at least 200 years; small files are free and we pay for photos. Any Arweave gateway can serve them; the page tries two.
  • The method is public. The specification is enough to write an independent checker.
  • If the address on a seal stops opening (purl.org down): open the verification page — artfirma.com or any copy — in Chrome on Android and tap Check a seal with this phone. The page reads the seal itself, without purl.org. On other phones: copy the link from the address bar into Check a link by hand on any copy of the page.
  • On closing, the seal address moves to the archive. The purl address on every seal will be pointed to the permanent copy of this page on Arweave, so seals keep opening forever without our servers or domain. Access to the domains and accounts is also held by a trusted person, so this does not depend on us being reachable.
  • What stops if we close: the optional live chip check and new artists joining through our service.

TermsCondiciones

  • As is. The app, the verification page and the registry are provided as they are, without warranties. ArtFirma does not examine or vouch for artworks; a check confirms only what is described under “Verified”.
  • Notice before closing. If the service on artfirma.com ever has to close, we will announce it as early as possible and at least six months in advance, on this page and on the verification page itself — time to save copies and, if wanted, to run it yourself. Seals already signed keep working after that, as described above.
  • Liability and law. 123Automate's liability is limited to the amount you paid us for seals, except where the law does not allow such a limit; your rights as a consumer are not affected. Spanish law applies.
  • Questions or complaints: go@123automate.it, or by post to the address above.

Run it yourselfHazlo por tu cuenta

An artist, gallery or estate that does not want to depend on ArtFirma at all can keep everything in their own hands:

  1. Your own permanent address. Either register your own redirect on purl.org (free, run by the Internet Archive), or use your own domain directly, without a redirect (for example https://verify.yourstudio.com/). Set it in the app (⚙ → Verify page address) before signing: your seals then point to an address only you control. A purl redirect can be repointed if you change domain or hosting; your own domain is simpler, but you must keep renewing it for as long as the seals should work.
  2. Your own verification page. The page is a single file: download it from this site and host it anywhere (your website, any static hosting). It checks seals without us.
  3. Your own copy of the registry. Keep your records and photos (the app copies them to a folder you choose) and publish them next to your page, in a folder r/.

Seals already signed keep working either way: their signatures depend on your key, not on where the page lives.
